As you begin your search for the perfect school, it’s important to know the timelines for enrollments, applications, and announcements. Most schools and districts begin the enrollment process and open applications in October. Below is what you need to know….

October

• Wake County’s online enrollment portal opens (have to enroll in a base school prior to a magnet school selection)

• Year-Round school and Magnet school applications open (October-January)

• Private schools begin the application process

November and December

• School tours begin

• Most private school applications are due

• Magnet fairs begin

• Early Colleges and Flex High School applications due in December

January

• Magnet schools and Year-Round school applications due

• Charter schools accept applications

February

• Magnet school selections are announced

• “Request for Transfer” period is open until March

• Charter schools close applications

March

• Charter school selections are announced

• Most private school selections are announced
