About Me
My children are as different as night and day. Their educational needs are different. I knew I would have my work cut out for me when my family decided to move from Georgia to North Carolina in the summer of 2020. One would think that having been a teacher, curriculum specialist, assistant principal, and principal would have prepared me to easily navigate Wake County’s school choice system. It didn’t! I was just as frustrated as any other parent who has tried to make sense of the public school bureaucracy, private school offerings, and charter school options, while being inundated with websites, brochures, rumors, online articles, tours, etc. So many options and a maze of information! I knew that if an educator with twenty years of experience was frustrated, there were many other parents feeling the same.
When it comes to education, I’m a problem solver who likes challenges and I know I can bring order to the school selection process. I believe that my years spent in education coupled with navigating the educational landscape as a parent has provided me with a perspective I could use to help parents make the best decisions for their families.
I want to offer parents a sense of clarity, assurance, and understanding of the choices they must make as they select the best school and options for their children. My goal as a school consultant is simple: To empower parents to better understand the educational options and make the best school and curriculum choices for their families.
Both private and public schools have strengths and challenges, yet all have dedicated, talented, and compassionate educators who are working hard each day for students. The challenge as a parent is to clearly understand all options, ask the right questions, reflect on your family’s needs, and find the best school for YOUR child and YOUR family.
If you feel overwhelmed navigating the school options and timelines, I can help.
Sincerely,
Carrie Pitchford
